 Hi, we are Lucy and Kurt Jewson. From our home in Cornwall, on the far South West peninsular of the United Kingdom, we run Cut4Cloth. Our story began, when we couldn't find clothes that would fit over our son Tom's washable nappy. After an extensive search, we decided to make our own! As more pesticides and chemicals go into growing cotton than any other crop, it was important for us, that we found a manufacturer that used organically grown cotton. It soon became apparent that Cut4Cloth was going to be our new career! We both gave up our jobs, to concentrate on our new business full time. One of the many benefits of this is that we now spend a lot more time with our son (who has just started walking!) When we first began setting up our business, we never dreamt that our clothes would be sold in Japan! It seems that more and more people, all over the World, are beginning to understand that we must look after our environment. We hope, that by providing colourful and exciting garments, we can help enlightened Japanese parents make ecologically sound choices that will be soft and pure for their babies, and have a minimal impact on our world. | ||

こんにちは、私達はルーシー＆カート・ジョーソンと申します。イギリスの南西半島の海岸沿いにあるコーンウォールと言う街で、Cut4Clothを運営しています。 私達がCut4Clothを立ち上げた経緯は、息子、トムに布おむつを使った育児をしている時、どうしてもちょうどぴったりとくるベビー服を見つけることができなかったことが始まりです。 布おむつを使う赤ちゃんにちょうどよいベビー服を求めて色んなところを探しましたが、残念ながら見つからず・・・そして、私達自身の手で作ろうと決心しました。 コットンは、その栽培過程に他の植物よりも比較的多くの殺虫剤や科学肥料などが残留しやすいと言われています。そのため、コットンをオーガニック栽培しているということが私達の重要な条件となりました。 リサーチ開始とともに、Cut4Clothが私達の新しいキャリアとなりました！私達夫婦は、その時働いていた会社を辞め、この新しいビジネスに専念することにしたのです。 そして、自分たちのビジネスを起こすことの利点の一つとして、2人で以前よりもたくさんの時間を息子、トムと過ごすことができるということです。(トムは今ちょうど歩き始めの時期なのです！) 最初にこのビジネスを始めたとき、私達の商品が海を渡って日本で販売されるなんて夢にも思っていませんでした！世界中で、この環境を皆で守っていなかければいけないことに、だんだんと気付き出したかのように思われます。 カラフルでかわいいCut4Clothで、赤ちゃんにとっても柔らかくピュアで、また環境に優しいという選択をより選びやすいものとし、また一人一人の小さな思いやりが私達の世界に広まっていくことを願っています。 ルーシー, カートそしてトムより 2004年11月 | |||
